Walking is good for your wellbeing

This week's adventure was a walk of the nice fairly level track from Grants Head down to North Haven and back. A round trip that takes roughly 2 hours and is just over 8km in total length - a walk I really enjoy and you often see a least one or two people (and even dogs, horses by the looks of the track and bike riders too, coming and going).

After you leave the dirt road and the track heads down a short hill, the track nears closer to the beach and away from the road (Ocean Drive which connects North Haven to Bonny Hills). The walk (Grants Beach Walking Trail) passes through varied ecosystems adjacent to the sand dunes; with eucalypt, paper bark and banksia woodlands and coastal heath (https://www.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/files/assets/public/v/1/document-files/places/sportrecreation/walkingmaps/grants-beach-walking-trail.pdf)

When you reach North Haven it's only a short walk over to the surf lifesaving club and to Beach Break North Haven, a great place for a coffee, cake, or lunch - the view and location is perfect looking out over the break wall and the ocean.

While walking and trying to spot birds, I began to reflect on how much I value my friends. In a hectic world filled with constant demands, it's truly wonderful to have sincere people in your life who care about you and enjoy spending time with you, just as I do with them.

I embarked on this journey to get back in shape, enhance my fitness, lose weight, and become stronger. However, I've discovered that the benefits to my mental resilience, positive outlook, and appreciation for what I have and the people around me are equally significant.

Whilst this was far from one of the hardest walks I've done - it was quite easy and I can feel my legs getting stronger which is really inspiring confidence in my own capabilities, it was one of the most rewarding.

Let me know if you're in Port Macquarie and you're keen to go on a walk on a Tuesday at 9am, I plan to tackle something new every week.
